MAY 2024 | REAL ESTATE OVERVIEW

MORRISON 87 REALTY ’s Monthly Real Estate Brief - Your Essential Guide to All Things Real Estate:

In May, Saskatchewan saw 1,841 sales, reflecting a six percent increase from the previous year and 24 percent above the decade-long average. Many regions maintained strong sales levels, with Swift Current-Moose Jaw and Northern areas experiencing the highest year-over-year growth.

As expected for this time of year, there was an uptick in new listings compared to the previous month. However, robust sales have kept inventory levels low, reaching their lowest point since 2008. The most significant shortage is seen in homes under $300,000, where the market remains fiercely competitive.

“Our housing market continues to report strong monthly sales figures despite persistent inventory challenges,” said Saskatchewan Realtor’s ® Association CEO Chris Guérette. “An eleventh consecutive month of above-average sales is quite impressive when you consider how challenging it can be for prospective buyers in some markets in our province right now.”
